Guidance for Board Members
Board members are the people who exercise control over, and are legally responsible for, the management of the organisation, and although they are volunteers, the role of a Board Member carries significant responsibility.
Board Members also have specific duties under the Charities Act 2009 and a requirement to ensure compliance with other relevant legislation, including Data Protection and the Companies Act 2014 where the organisation is a company. Professionals such as accountants and solicitors should be engaged as required to ensure compliance with legal responsibilities and CRO requirements.
Guidance for Board Members focuses on identifying the principles of good governance and building on existing capability at Board level.
